The winery was founded by cav. Emiro Bortolusso,
and it has an antique tradition in winemaking

 

The Bortolusso’s winery is located in Friuli Venezia Giulia, inside Carlino district. The land is unique, the vineyard merge into the lagoon,
and the grapes roots grasp the mixed sea soil, giving to the wine a characteristic flavour.

The land "Friuli-Annia" registered designation of origin is has been recently created, although is winemaking vocation is well renowned since Roman ages, proof of it are the wine's amphoras that were found in many archaeological site. The land has been named Annia after the ancient Roman road between the city of Aquileia, Iulia Concordia and Via Aemilia. The road were constructed by Tito Annio Rufo in 131 a.c. Annia was a village in the countryside, near the Marano Lagunare lagoon, and its climate that influences the wine flavour. HISTORY

Bortolussos's son Sergio, and daughter, Clara, run the family business. At this time the vineyard spreads over 45 Ha. They can guarantee a constant quality raising, thanks to their father's legacy and the help of a modern production system. The winery main focus is to use only its own grapes. FAMILY RUN BUSINESS

The grape cellar uses during the transformation process modern and automated technologies, stainless tank with heat control in a safe and clean environment. The ageing zone is constructs under the sea level, with stable heat and humidity all the year. Those traits define a perfect and suggestive environment. THE WINE CELLAR

Bortolusso winery aim to preserve and monitor the vineyards, using organic fertilizer and minimum residues pesticide treatments. Those essential operations grant grapes that product unique and traditional taste wines. BORTOLUSSO WINERY: WINES FROM CARLINO

After the thinning-out, the grape harvest could be manual or mechanical, by selecting exclusively the best grapes. The bottling is a crucial phase, is happening between 30 and 60 days before bringing the product onto the market. All the process respects Bortolusso's tradition and atmosphere, not to mention the quality that characterize world-renowned Italian oenology and in general, the whole wine culture in Friuli province. THE HARVEST AND BOTTLING

A land with warm season thanks to the sea, this creates an unique climate. High salinity water, the sun glares on the lagoon and the sea breeze, granted the perfect climate that characterize the Bortolusso's wines. The landscape where the cellar was found is full of atmosphere, the near lagoon is world renewed as a habitat for many aquatic birds. LAND
